About
My approach
I will work with each client with understanding and acceptance, to help them build on their strengths and personal qualities. I am dedicated to an open, approachable attitude to help clients improve their overall well-being.
I believe that people innately know what they need in order to heal. I provide a safe space of warmth, compassion, and acceptance. I adopt a holistic approach to therapy (mind, body, spirit), and work from several different treatment modalities depending on the issues being addressed. I will work with you to both reduce current suffering, and help you gain awareness of old patterns of thinking that no longer serve you- patterns and habits we all have. This process will empower you to cope with difficult situations, and/or to make improvements in your life and relationships
My background
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional. I received a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Chapman University in 2001; my Bachelor’s degree in Human Services is from Western Washington University in 1998. I obtained my Chemical Dependency training through Northwest Indian College. I have completed weekend one and two of EMDR training.
I am experienced in working with individuals, couples and families along with families that have special needs members. I have also worked in group counseling settings, facilitating different types of groups. Having practiced in a variety of scenarios (home based services, private office, schools, correctional institutions, out-patient services, etc.) has allowed me to become versatile and effective in meeting a variety of therapeutic needs.
